14 Exciting New Ways to Kickoff 2014!

Happy New Year!!!! Welcome to the year 2014. Another year that will be filled with greatness. As I was looking over my last year, I discovered how many firsts were completed. How many dreams were manifested. I can’t help but be grateful for what’s come to me and excited for all coming this next year.

Its time for us to keep Breaking The Shell and continue steping out of the comfort zone. Expand the horizons. Check things off the bucket list. Get adventurous. Manifest your dream life. Yolo right?

Here are 14 things you can do to Kickoff 2014:


1. Make A Vision Board
Get out all those magazines, glue sticks, and scissors and start scrapping your visions for the year. You can host or go to a party or put on some Super Soul Sunday and make it on your own. Go through the magazines and cut out any pictures and words that make you feel good and represent things you want to happen for you. Paste them on a poster board to hang up somewhere you can see it everyday. Vision boards are amazing ways to get a representation of what’s currently on your mind and an even more amazing way to feel and stay motivated through out the year. Why settling with just a cut out on the fridge when you can have a whole poster of things that brighten your day.

2. Plan a Retreat
Whether it’s for a month, a week, a weekend, or just one night, I want you to plan a retreat that you want to go on this year. Plan it as a family trip, a friends weekend away, or a private getaway for just you. We can all agree that vacations are relaxing and something we all need. Pick a place you’ve always wanted to go with events you’ve always wanted to try. Figure out travel arrangements, where you will stay, your itinerary for the time you will be there, everything from beginning to end. The one thing I don’t want you to do is think about the cost or how unrealistic the trip is. It doesn’t matter if you ever end up going on the trip or not but the idea is to put your dreams into the universe. Who knows, maybe you’ll realize how doable you retreat really is, or maybe someway, somehow it will manifest into your life on it’s own.

3. Start a New Class
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make cakes like a cake boss? Paint like Picasso? Act like Brad Pitt? Or simply just try Bikram Yoga? Think of something you’ve always wanted to try and sign up for a class. Take a baking class, sign up for salsa, join a meditation group, or get a month pass for an exercise class. 90% of the work to starting a new routine is just starting. Not only is this a good way to scratch a goal off the bucket list but it’s also a great way to get out of the house and meet new friends.

4. Try a New Restaurant
Drive down the street and see if there is any place that you never eaten at before. And if you haven’t had that type of food, even better. If you live in a small town and have tried every place, then drive to the next city and see what comes up there. We get so used to going to the same places over and over that we may be missing out on the little gem right in front of our noses. Another good idea is to try a new item on the menu. Start expanding your horizons.

5. Just Drive
Take a solo drive and just drive. Find the road less traveled and see where it takes you. We all have navigation on our phones or in our cars these days so don’t worry about getting lost. Just drive, listen to fun music, and use the time alone to dream.

6. Write a handwritten letter to a friend
And send it to them. Don’t you love getting mail that isn’t a bill. Especially when it’s unexpected. How long has been since you’ve actually handwritten letter? Get out some pretty stationary, write something awesome for someone you care about, even better if it’s someone you don’t get to speak to often, and send it this weekend. Put some glitter in the envelope too 🙂 Glitter always makes people smile.

7. Splurge on a new outfit.
Don’t wait until you reach your goal weight. Buy a new outfit NOW! Splurge on some new shoes that you like or a new dress/suit. Why wait? The future never comes so feel good now!!!  And if there’s something you want that is really out of your range, take a picture of it and put it on your vision board.

8. Put the Phone Down.
Isn’t it awkward these days now when you go out and all you see are people on there phones. I can easily admit that I can be that person. I have been working on becoming more aware and putting my phone down often but let’s plan to REALLY start living in the real world instead of the virtual world in our hands. When you go out to eat, everyone leave your phone in the car. When you’re at home, leave your phone in the room. When you’re in the elevator, TALK to the person in there with you. As great as technology is and the availability of information and communication, ironically it’s enabled us to communicate less face to face. Regain that connection with your fellow humans by becoming present! Maybe even choose to spend one day a week without your phone all day. No matter how much you think you need it, for work, emails, emergencies etc…..remember there used to be a time when we didn’t have cell phones. There’s always a way to figure it out!

9. Carry Your Camera Around
And no not your phone camera. Start bringing your point and shoot or your DSLR with you and take some pictures. Capture memories. Get creative. Take pictures of the places you go, the people you’re with, colors and patterns you see, and NOT the food you eat. Trust me you’ll be so happy you’ll have these memories later in life. Get them printed and hang them on your wall  or make a canvas for a friend.

10. Have a Game Night
Nothing is better then having some friends over and playing some games. You can even go back to childhood and have a Connect Four Tournament or Battle Ship wars. Just have fun, laugh, and feel like a kid again.

11. Trade Recipes
Who doesn’t like being able to make new foods. Get a small group of 7 friends and trade new easy recipes with each other. Write your favorite receipe down on 7 different note cards and pass them out to your friends while they pass theirs to you. By the end of the exchange, you’ll have a weeks worth of new ideas to try.

12. Sit in Silence
Whether in your room or on top on  a hillside somewhere, just sit in silence. Close your eyes or keep them open. Listen to the sounds around you, feel the energy in your body, smell the scent of the air. Listen to the thoughts in your head. Just breathe and appreciate the life that you live

13. Clean Up

Go through your closet, your garage, your junk drawers and get rid of anything you don’t need or don’t use. If you haven’t used it in this last year (and know you wont this next year) then get rid of it. If you know you won’t ever have a yard sale just take everything to the Good Will. Get it out your house and give it away. Not only is that clearing the clutter in your place, but it’s clearing the clutter in your brain. You will FEEL more energized because you will free up the energy you spent always “thinking” you needed to get rid of it. JUST START!

Life is too short to worry about anything else but being happy. Smile…it’s contagious. Smile at a stranger, smile at your family, smile at your friends, look in the mirror and smile at yourself. Smile at your face, your body, your soul. No matter how you were feeling before, I promise, all it takes is a smile to raise your energy level even if just a little.



Good Deed Sunday: 12/29/13

In my last post I mentioned to you about the new journal I am started at the New Year regarding completing “One Good Deed A Day”. I will be making a status update daily on my Facebook page (so don’t forget to click the link to your right to follow me on FB) with reflection about the deed from the day before and the deed I will be completing that day. On the blog I will be updating once a week instead. Every Sunday for the deeds for Sunday through Saturday in case any of you want to follow along. The journal can also be found at Barnes and Noble if anyone wants to grab one on their own and follow along or do it themselves.



Today will be the first post describing the deeds I will complete today. Although I would like to pick a deed everyday, to be successful at this, I know myself and I need to be a little more prepared for some of the deeds in the book to make sure I follow through. Not only that I wanted you to be able to follow along if you choose as well. I feel like some sense of excitement can be lost through this process or pre-picking, but I want to try and do a new good deed every day and this way will help me, at least for now. If later on I decide to just pick a random one each day I will start to update on here daily instead of weekly.

Cherish the Season

Good Afternoon,
I hope Everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. I feel like I’ve been slammed since October. The days seem to fly by after Halloween with all the holidays one after another.

I know holidays can be a very “testing” time of the year considering your family are the ones that can tend to test you the most, but hopefully everyone has been able to see the magic that can occur during this time of year as well. The laughter, the warmth, the giving and the gratitude.

If you haven’t noticed I have been M.I.A. for the last couple of weeks. And no that does not mean in Miami. I wish! Like said with the holidays and preparing for those I have also been working on my final for school which seems to be pretty time-consuming. I have school again next weekend so I will be working the rest of this week and next week making sure it’s completed in time. So please forgive me if I have a hard time posting during this next week and a half. I’ve felt busy out of my mind. But I will try my best not to let so much space happen again.

I do want to update you briefly on some things that have happened within the last month. First off, something I never shared with everyone was that:

I AM PREGNANT WITH BABY #2. 6 months to be exact. I was waiting for a good time t o share the news and then little by little it was getting overshadowed by other stuff I wanted to share. I recently had a gender reveal party Nov 30th and found out with some good friends and family that we are having another baby BOY!!! yay so exciting. My son is over the moon with joy for his new baby brother. I can’t wait to see their bond grow. I can’t believe I have held out on you guys for so long!

Next, last week I officially made my first vision board. That was very fun. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to it. I attempted one about 6 years ago and I cut pictures out to use and then never made the real board. Since then it’s just been something that I have procrastinated on. I attend these meetings once a month with some good friends where we get together and talk about Manifesting and our experiences as well as what we want to manifest for the future. This last meeting we decided to have a vision board party (something we had wanted to do before the meeting were ever in progress) so we all brought over boards, magazines, glue, scissors, and got to work. It was fun!!! It’s a good way to visualize and get ready for the New Year! Below is a picture of my vision board. I share it with you to further put it out into the universe.


The other awesome thing I have waited to start a cool journal I got back in April called “One Good Deed A Day”. It’s a journal filled with 365 good deeds to complete. I thought about starting it back in April when I got it but seemed like a good thing to start at the beginning of the new year. I got it from my favorite store, Handmade but have recently seen them in Barnes and Noble. So if you are interested in starting it with me, go grab one before the New Year. You can pick any deed you want to complete on any day and you write the date at the top and then you have a short space below to write your thoughts or notes about your deed that day. I have decided this is going to take some planning ahead of time to make sure I can complete the deeds every day so I going to try to plan my deeds weekly. I will share on here on Sundays if any  of you want to follow along.

Aside from everything above, I am currently in the Bay Area visiting my mother for the next week. Such a great time to have this time off from work so I can dedicate some more time to finishing up my final for school. I wanted to mention a random coincidence, or manifestation as I’d like to call it.

So I’ve felt a little stressed recently about my final. For part of the final we have to find quotes from the 4 books we had to read this last few months. We have to find a total of 10 quotes total from each book that are specific to some of the Themes/Principles/Skills we will be writing about. So 2 of the 4 books I ended up getting on a Kindle App on my phone because I couldn’t seem to find the books anywhere in the bookstore. It’s been a little difficult when it comes to reading because it’s on my phone which the small screen can make it a little more difficult. Searching back through the books has been even more difficult because I have to scroll through the pages pretty much one by one to search because in a physical book it’s a lot easier to flip through the pages.

One of the books I am having a problem with is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Well I was just talking to my friend the other day about how I was starting to get stressed because of this issue and really wondering how I am going to be able to find relatable quotes without it being too time consuming. This morning, something crazy happened. I awoke in my old room at my mom’s house and in front of me is this bookshelf. I was still lying down and happened to be staring at the book shelf. I see book, something was in front of it, so all I see is the number 7 on the spine. In my head I was thinking “No effin way”. I get up and pull the book out and its 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I go into my mom’s room and ask her about it and she doesn’t even remember she had it. She said she thinks she had to read it for work a long time ago. I was so amazed because now I have at least 3 of the 4 PHYSICAL books I need for my final and finding these quotes. Finding this book just made my life a tad more easy when it comes to completing this final.

Reflect on the Journey

It’s the last day of the year!!! Some never thought we’d make it to see this day but we’re here at the end of chapter on another year with promise and hope for many more to come.

hindsight-rear-view-future-past-road-mirrorI like for everyone to take some time today and REALLY reflect on this past year and what has happened.

As I look back on 2012, I remember the feeling I had last January and knowing that 2012 was going to be a BEGINNING to awesome things and boy have I manifested that. I started this blog which is a huge step in the direction I want to go. I went to New York for the first time and with my mother of which we hadn’t been on a vacation together for a loooong time. I tried some things I’d never done before like zip lining and parasailing. Both also taking me out of my comfort zone due to my fear of heights. I got engaged to my love and the father of my child of whom I’ve been involved with for the last 7 years. I experienced freedom by setting some truths free and the outcome forced me to grow. We moved into a new house of which we absolutely love, in the process let go of some old and welcomed some new. I’ve been able to spend some amazing quality time with my family. We’ve decided that we want another baby. I created a model of an app idea I’ve been sitting on for two years, and met with some people to see what it’s going to take to make it. I got to meet and have a short conversation with a huge inspirator of mine, Mastin Kipp. I’ve learned more about living a healthy lifestyle. I’ve witnessed new beginnings for my loved ones around me be it babies, marriages, new boyfriends, new schools, new houses, new jobs, new perspectives. I’ve felt love, loss, anxiety, calm, peace, pain, happiness, joy, and a multitude of other emotions! I EMBRACE IT ALL. I am now equipped with knowing even more of what I want to create for myself and my future.

Sometime today, preferably before things get too wild, try to sit down in a quiet space and just go over all the events that took place this last 12 months. Were there things you did for the first time? Did you do something you’ve always wanted to do? Did you step out of your comfort zone? If so, what was the outcome? Did something terrible happen to you at all? What were the lessons learned? How have you become better? Can you see, even a little, how it fits the bigger picture? What were your moments of joy? Did you do anything to step closer to your dreams?

Years come and go and some of us never fully take the time to reflect on our journey. It is fufilling to take a rest break, look back at all the places you’ve been, painful, joyful, loving, or hard and just fully welcome who you are today because of everything. To let go for a second all the woulda coulda shouldas, the whatifs and maybes, and embrace ALL your experiences.

Tomorrow we can focus on our blank canvas of the new year. Today let’s be thankful for our journeys thus far!
