Good Deed Sunday: 1/26/14 (Late Post)

Ok so during a previous week, I had a good deed of sending friends a Thank You note for being a good friend and it was awesome because this last week, everyone at separate times were sending me pictures of the little “love notes” I sent in the card and telling me how it was a pleasant surprise or how they needed it at that moment. So it felt really good to make some of my friends feel special.

“Thank You for this. Things have been pretty hectic around here. I needed this!”

“Amazing friends make my world go round. Thank You [Ashley]  for being you”

Let’s catch up for this last week and you can also see what the mystery deed was (I know it’s been killing you to know).

1/19/14: TELL YOUR PARENTS YOU LOVE THEM and appreciate them:
As easy as this one is, or seems, it was a little strange for me to just do it out of the blue over the phone. I mean I’ve gotten into the habit of saying I say I Love You frequently to my parents but for some reason to, what would seem like random, to tell them I appreciate them felt more….(gasp) vulnerable. I haven’t always been in a place of being comfortable sharing feelings with my parents while I was growing up so I’m learning it still has somewhat of a hold on me now. Also I think with this day and age and having texting and messaging and that sort of stuff, I think society has a harder time sharing their feelings face to face or voice to voice. I didn’t want to pass on this good deed so I still completed it, and as much as I wanted to do it over the phone (because my parents don’t live close enough for me to see them), I was feeling too vulnerable in the moment, so I did it through a text message. Both parents replied and I could tell were grateful to hear that from me.

1/20/14: MYSTERY DEED aka SEND A FRIEND A BELOVED BOOK from your shelf:
The reason I picked this as a mystery deed is because this is the type of deed I like to be a surprise. I didn’t want any friends to EXPECT anything and like the element of surprising someone and them receiving something unexpected. This particular deed, one of my friends was mentioning a book she thought she should read because it kept appearing in her path and it was a book I have. I had not read it yet and knowing that I wasn’t going to have time any time soon, I sent the book for her to read. She doesn’t check her mail frequently so I don’t think she’s seen it yet, but I’m sure after this post she’ll go home and check tonight 🙂

1/21/14: HUG YOUR CHILD for no reason at all:
This one is super easy because I hug my child all the time. He’s 5 so he’s constantly getting smothered in kisses and hugs from me. I thought this might be an interesting one for parents with older children because it might be something they don’t do as often, making it a pleasant surprise for their child. If you are a parent of an older child and you completed this deed, or want to complete it, share your experience in the comments below.

1/22/14: bake your favorite kind of cookies and SHARE:
This is a deed I did not get a chance to do this week. I had no time the previous night to bake cookies so my plan was to bake them on this night and share them with my co-workers the following day and when I was going to make them, I didn’t have any eggs. I literally haven’t even gone to the grocery store since. 😦 I’m going tonight though, so I’ll make sure I pick up some eggs.

1/23/14: MEDITATE for ten minutes:
I have to admit, this one I did not remember to do. I was going to do it at lunch but then had errands to run so decided to do it at bedtime and forgot. 😦

1/24/14: BUY A COFFEE for the person behind you in line:
This one was fun because I don’t drink coffee and I rarely end up in a coffee shop. So on this day I deliberately went to Starbucks just to carry out this deed. I did not order a coffee for myself, I instead bought some food so I could quickly slip out before the person behind me knew they were getting their coffee paid for. The funny thing is, there was a really long line when I went in but no one was coming in after me. I was laughing in my head thinking “of course this happens”. When I was paying for my food, two people walked in. I gave the cashier a $20 and as she was going to give me my $15 change I told her to keep $10 and pay for the next one or two coffees behind me. As I was walking out I heard her say, “Oh she’s paying for your drink”. I didn’t turn around I just kept walking. It was kind of awesome to feel like some sort of mysterious deed lady haha.

1/25/14: TELL A STRANGER HIS/HER CHILD IS BEAUTIFUL:
I had a lot of opportunity for this one this day because not only did I go to a child’s birthday party, but my son also had a basketball game. I told one of the mom’s at the birthday party that her daughter was beautiful. I’m sure she’s heard it before because her daughter was just so adorable, but as a parent I know it’s still feels nice when people say that.

1/26/14: BE HAPPY FOR SOMEONE and tell her.
I accidentally picked 8 deeds last week instead of 7 but being that I am late on this post it’s good that I had previously picked this for yesterday and it was already shared with everyone. I went to my fiance’s cousin’s girlfriends (you got that?) baby shower yesterday. It was so nice and beautiful. We are both pregnant and only 4 weeks apart from each other. It’s cool because the babies are cousins and will be close in age. By the end of the shower, I couldn’t remember if I had specifically told her I was happy for her so just in case, I wrote it again on her Facebook to let her know how excited and happy I am for both and I can’t wait to meet the little one.

So as January is coming to an end, I have officially completed 20 of 26 deeds that I have picked. Sometimes things happen or I won’t get the opportunity to do it on the specific day I was meaning to. For that, I want to at least try to have “make up” days before the end of that month. So this week I will be doubling up with new deeds as well as some that I have missed from the previous weeks.

The new deeds this week are:

1/27/14: SAY GOOD MORNING TO YOUR CO-WORKERS

1/28/14: ***MYSTERY DEED***

1/29/14: DO A LITTLE DANCE AND BE SILLY

1/30/14: LEAVE SOME HOMEMADE COOKIES AT YOUR NEIGHBORS DOOR

1/31/14: GIVE YOURSELF  A PEP TALK

2/1/14: LET ANOTHER CAR TAKE THAT PARKING SPOT, smile and wave

“Make Up Deeds”:
* Walk around your block and PICK UP TRASH”
*BE MINDFUL of saying “Please”, “Thank You”, and “You’re Welcome” (I halfway completed but wasn’t very mindful and could do better)
*WRITE A POSTCARD TO A LONG LOST FRIEND
*BE QUICK TO APOLOGIZE
*bake your favorite cookies and SHARE
*MEDITATE FOR TEN MINUTES

Can’t wait to see how this week goes and if you’ve been following along or would like to I would love to hear from you in the comments section below

Good Deed Sunday: 1/19/14

Another week down of Good Deed’s accomplished. Yay! Let’s see how this last week went

1/12/14 BE MINDFUL of saying “Please” and “Thank You” and “You’re Welcome” – all day long
I kind of butchered this one because I wasn’t particularly mindful about it for the day. I know I say Thank You a lot, I try to make sure of it to show my appreciation for others effort and work, so I’m not doubting I didn’t say that throughout the day but I’m not so sure I was very mindful with the “Please” and “You’re Welcome”. I have a habit of saying “No Problem” when people say Thank You to me so I’m going to continue to work on the “You’re Welcome”. And also saying Please more often.

1/13/14: start a list of books you’d like to READ FOR FUN:
My for fun books are very similar to books I now have to read for school. Some sort of Self-Growth type of book is what I usually lean towards. I love expanding my knowledge and interest in the area. I rarely read many other types of books when I do read like fiction and such so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear. It’s nice to read other types of books too. I have a list of books I need to finish reading as well as one’s I want to start. With school, I have so much reading, we read about 4 or so books at a time, so I’m not sure when I’ll get to the for fun list but I’m glad I now have one.

Books I want to finish reading:
*The Liar in Your Life – The Way to Truthful Relationships by:Robert Feldman
*Add More ING to Your Life by: Gabrielle Bernstein
*The Power of Intention by: Wayne Dyer
*Wishes Fulfilled – Mastering the Art of Manifesting by: Wayne Dyer (one I had for class that I didn’t finish)
*Love Lust and Faking It by: Jenny McCarthy

Books I want to start reading:
* A Course in Miracles by: Foundation for Inner Peace
* The Untethered Soul – The Journey Beyond Yourself by: Michael Singer
* Daring Greatly – How The Courage to Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead  by: Brene Brown (only read the first couple pages)
* The Four Agreements – A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by: Don Miguel Ruiz
* Daily Love – Lessons Learned on a Journey from Crisis to Grace by: Mastin Kipp (released Sept 2014)

1/14/14: EAT YOUR NEXT MEAL IN SILENCE (and away from a computer):
On this day I didn’t have too long of a lunch break but I ate my lunch in my car in silence. I’ll admit I had to fight the urge to pick up and check my cell phone. It’s interesting noticing that urge when you are specifically trying not to do so

1/15/14: STRIKE UP A CONVERSATION with a person at the cash register:
I completed this goal with the person at Trader Joes while I was doing my grocery shopping. I’ve always thought it could be somewhat awkward when you’re just standing there waiting and no one is really talking so it was nice to have a conversation.

1/16/14: BE QUICK TO APOLOGIZE:
Super Fail at this one. Again, was not too mindful of the deed this day until the day was over. Even got into a few small arguments this day that probably could have settled faster had I been mindful of this Good Deed for the day. I tell ya, that need to “BE RIGHT” is a kicker. It’s got a strong hold on me. I will need practice this deed more often.

wpid-20140117_154458.jpg1/17/14: SEND A FRIEND A THANK YOU NOTE for being a good friend:
So far this has been one of my favorites. I’ve stood in the stationary section at Target so many times wanting to get cute Thank You cards so this was an awesome reason to be able to do that. I love the cards I got and instead of sending a card to ONE friend, I sent cards to 10 friends. I also found these cute little “LOVE NOTES” that i included in each card. Kind of like a fortune cookie, you have to tear open each note to reveal a cute saying inside about love. Part of me wanted to open each note and read it but I left that to my friends.

1/18/14: WRITE A POSTCARD TO A LONG LOST FRIEND:
This one was a little difficult yesterday because I could not find a postcard. BUT I did get a long lost friends address and will continue looking for a postcard today to send. If I can’t find a postcard, I’ll try to at least send a small card or note.

now on to the deeds for this week:

1/19/14: TELL YOUR PARENTS YOU LOVE THEM and appreciate them

1/20/14: ***MYSTERY DEED***

1/21/14: HUG YOUR CHILD FOR NO REASON AT ALL

1/22/14: bake your favorite kind of cookies and SHARE.

1/23/14: MEDITATE FOR TEN MINUTES

1/24/14: BUY A COFFEE for the person behind you in line

1/25/14: TELL A STRANGER HIS/HER CHILD IS BEAUTIFUL

1/26/14: BE HAPPY FOR SOMEBODY and tell her

***I’ve realized that some of the deeds I would like to complete without giving away what it’s going to be. Some deeds are more fun for both parties if no one expects it coming. So in the event there is a deed like this, you will see MYSTERY DEED, and I will let you know the deed during the following Sunday***

If you have followed along, I would love to know how the deeds have gone for you in the comments below. Or If you would like to follow along, keep me updated.

Don’t forget to follow my FACEBOOK PAGE so you can get a daily reminder of each deed.

Be Thankful

Good Afternoon and Happy Thanksgiving!

BeThankful

Did you know that the fastest highway to feeling good is to feel Thankful? When you are in a state of Thankfulness/Gratitude/Appreciation, you are in your highest alignment, which allows you to feel the most connected to your Source. The more you find to be thankful for, the better you feel. The better you feel, the more you want to do it. You then begin to enter this cycle of positive thoughts and feelings becoming more and more connected to that of your True Self.

Take a look around you right now, wherever you may be reading this post. Notice something that pleases you and hold your attention on this object/person. Think of all the reasons you are thankful for it. Focus on how useful it is. How beautiful it is. How wonderful it is. The longer you focus on this object or person, your feelings of gratitude will become stronger.

As I type I am noticing my perfume in front of me. It is my favorite perfume. I just sprayed some on my arm. The smell is so sweet and soft. It makes me feel gentle and pretty. It was hard for me to find, so its presence makes me happy. I get compliments when I wear it and it feels nice knowing that its smell makes other people feel nice too. I’m remembering the time when I first sampled it and shared it with someone and they loved it like I did.

Something as simple as the perfume in front of me just brought me to a place of feeling good. It brought forth good memories I have about wearing it and it currently raised my thought vibrations to that of Love, Joy, and Optimism. Qualities that are centered in my core being. I just picked something in front of me to experiment with. I won’t lie, at first it felt silly wondering how perfume would make me feel better than I already was, but the longer I focused on it, the more things came to mind and the higher I felt my vibrations rise.

Now look around and choose something else to focus on and continue the process. You will notice after time, it gets easier and easier to appreciate all that is around you. The more you feel good about things, the more good things will flow to you allowing you to continually feel grateful and stay in alignment with your Source and those same qualities that are in your core being.

Sometimes we can hold this space of resistance when thinking about what we want present on our lives. Resistance is that place in which you doubt your power and ability to co-create the life you wish to have. It’s that resistance that blocks what you want from coming to you. The resistance that you hold brings forth thoughts and feelings of frustration, impatience, blame, and unworthiness. All qualities on the opposite realm of what I assume you want to be feeling. But guess what, while you are thinking and feeling those things, you’re just asking the Universe for more of it.

This practice of appreciating allows you to lessen the resistance you hold in your life by allowing you to focus on the Present. You aren’t trying to change or fix something. You aren’t thinking about what you don’t have. You aren’t resisting what you want in the future. You are simply creating thoughts and feelings of Love and Joy for what you have right now, in turn asking the Universe for more of those thoughts and feelings. This will end up lessening your overall resistance because as you become accustomed to feeling good, you’ll then be able to recognize when your vibration changes to thoughts and feelings of resistance and/or feeling bad giving you the opportunity to choose the vibration you WANT to feel. The more you practice and the longer you stay in this feel good place, the faster and faster your awareness will become.

This practice of being Thankful and finding things to appreciate is one that you exercise daily. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want you to make it your objection to go through the day noticing all around you and thinking about what you appreciate. Once this practice becomes your intention you will notice that your day will be FILLED with things to appreciate. As the day moves forth, your thoughts of gratitude will start to flow through you naturally. By the end of the day just witness how happy you will be.

be-happy-no-thankful-173059-530-353_large

If you do find yourself feeling defensive throughout the day from an outside source, just remember you have stepped out of that feeling of appreciation and let the feelings of defense take over. You have no control over what energy is being directed AT you, only the energy you are directing outward. If you start to feeling defensive or angry, you have begun to direct that energy outward. The positive thing is that when you are in a state of feeling what you do not want, then it allows you to become more clear of those feelings you do want which allows you to refocus that energy and bringing gratitude back into your awareness.

As I end this post, I just want you to know, I am thankful for YOU! I am thankful for the time it took you to read this post. I am thankful for the posts you have read in the past. I am thankful for the being that you are EXACTLY how you are right now. I am thankful for the moments that led me to you and you to me. I am thankful for your life and contribution to the world by being who you are. I am thankful for the person you are intended to be. I am thankful for the feelings you feel, the thoughts you think, the experiences you experience. Without those things how they were back then and how they are right now, you wouldn’t be you. You are on a road back to Love, back to your Source, and it takes everything you’ve been through, everything you’re going through, to get there on time. I am thankful for the ever-loving beautiful essence that I know resides within. Without YOU there would be no ME! We are one!

One love.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Two Milestones, A Reveal, & a GIVE-AWAY

“Happy Anniversary to me, Happy Anniversary to me, Happy Anniversary My Mornin’ Coffee, Happy Anniversary to me”

GREAT MORNIN my fellow coffee readers!!! I can’t believe one year ago today I decided to go for it! Something I envisioned  for months and months but never had the courage to JUST DO  IT! And it all started with the season finale of The Bachelor.

The reason I hadn’t been posting anything the last few days, even though on certain occasions I wanted to very badly, was because today is also very special for another reason….

IT’S MY 100th POST!!!!  yayyy. I can’t believe I’ve posted for this long and that much.

I’m so excited to make it to both of these milestones. I was worried I wasn’t good enough to do this. I don’t consider myself a writer so it was very hard to really put myself and my words out into the public. But there was something inside of me that said, “just keep going”!

I had to do some work with letting myself off the hook though. When I started I was trying to post often, my goal was to post every day, so I was just finding articles, quotes, anything that would work so I could some way spark the interest of people. I liked the stuff I posted and stand behind it, but I found myself often in a rush or hurry just to have a post and it didn’t seem organic. I also found that I wasn’t spending as much time writing myself versus posting other people’s stuff. So I had to let myself off the hook and make it ok to not have a post every day or every other day. To not compare my blog with others that had a lot of followers or that posted often. To give my blog the chance to grow naturally and on its own schedule and if that meant I could only post twice a week then that’s what happened, but at least then I was taking my time and giving more heart to what was being put out there.

And ONE YEAR and 100 POSTS LATER I have 7,801 views (more after you see this), 71 blog followers, and 121 Facebook followers.

71 blog followers may not be a lot to some people but I appreciate and want to thank each and every one of you.

I started with being anonymous, I didn’t hound my friends to follow me, some still don’t even know I have a blog or know that this is MY blog. I wanted to see how my blog would naturally progress on its own without people following it just because they were my friend. Almost ALL of you I don’t even know, which means you found me on your own… You all decided to press Follow or Sign up with your email because you actually liked my content. Which means that I must be doing something right!!!

I thank all you that support me, that like what I do, that are interested in reading more. I really do appreciate you!!!

This has been a commitment, and although you may not realize it, you are all helping me grow.

I’ll admit some part of why I wasn’t really promoting my blog, especially as my own, was out of fear. I didn’t want to bug people and I didn’t want people to know a more personal side of myself. Which I know to an extent I have still been hiding. I didn’t put myself out there as much as I could have because, of course like most, I have a fear of rejection. But this next year I am vowing to change that thinking and I am going to do more to really step outside of my comfort zone and put myself out there and if someone can’t handle that…. oh well I guess right?

First things first: My name is Ashley Navarro and I am The Barista!

_DSC1253

yes oh yes you finally get a face to the blog!!

Another thing is, I’m not going to be ashamed of self promotion!!! It’s mine, I am proud of it and I own it. I have become more clear of the direction I want to take and vision I see for this and frankly….this shit needs to be out there!

My Mornin Coffee will undergo a few changes over the next few months, it might change a few times, so bear with me and I promise I’ll let myself off the hook too!!!

Now to the fun part….

A GIVE-AWAY. I want to do something to thank all those loyal and new. I will be giving away two prizes. One to a loyal follower that has followed me any time before this post (so  if you just began yesterday you are in luck) and one to a new follower that starts following me any time from this point forward. I’m not sure exactly what I want to give-away just yet but it will be something unique and special and at least $50 in value for a loyal follower and something a little smaller yet still special for a new follower .

If you are a past follower all I want you to do is simply leaving me a comment on this post letting me know you even read My Mornin Coffee. I wanna make sure you’re still alive. If you are a new follower, I will see you but still would love to know your favorite post in the comment section below… and if don’t know how to follow me check out the TOP RIGHT COLUMN and simply put in your email address and press submit OR I think there is a little thing floating on the bottom right that says FOLLOW! (although I may be wrong)….

A week from now I will randomly pick TWO winners… someone new and someone old to show my appreciation!!!

And if you have ANY cool suggestions on what you would want as a prize, let me know and it will be considered. After all the winner could be you and it’d be cool to get you something you want!!!

THANKS again readers. I love you and peace to all
